Urghhh. Sick.
Thursday, November 15th, 2007Me = sick.
Me = can’t breathe properly.
Me = can’t hear properly.
So yeah, that’s pretty much me right now.
Jill the Ill. No, it’s not Jill the Dill anymore - it’s Jill the Ill.

Jill now officially owns a school uniform! Shock horror! Hehe, on Tuesday I went to Oxley College to get my uniform. After a good hour (at least) of trying everything on I finally walked away with my uniform. But I just have to say this - the lady in the uniform shop, whose name I don’t know (isn’t that terrible, I know…), is sooo nice. She really is. She has such a nice, bubbly personality and is extremely friendly. But, oh my goodness - the uniform was sooo expensive, it’s not funny. Seriously. I mean, we had to buy absolutely everything, including a back pack and sports bag and all that too. Not just the uniform. Heh, but I am so glad I’m going into year 11, not year 10 or something like that. The years 7 - 10 uniform is sooo disgusting! It seriously looks like pajamas! Like it’s bad. You’d think that being a private school, it would at least have a decent uniform…hehe. But the senior uniform isn’t too bad. We did look at some second hand stuff from the shop but some of it was just so revolting. Like the second hand backpacks and sports bags looked like they’d been sitting there for the last 20 years. Really. And I looked at second hand skirts…but you know - they had ripped seams, buttons missing etc… So we ended up getting all new stuff. :S
I attended another of those essay writing classes on Monday. It was good. I even like wrote an actual essay! :O hehe. Quite a few people didn’t turn up this week though. So there were only 10 people in the class this week. 15 last week.
Oh, and do you know what’s really cool? I have downloaded Finale Notepad 2008 yesterday! It’s so much better than the previous version because…IT NOW RUNS ON WINDOWS VISTA!
Because I had Vista installed on my computer last Saturday, I suddenly remembered yesterday, "Noooo….Finale Notepad’s not going to work… :(". But then I visited the website only to discover the new version is out and is Vista compatible! Happy me, happy me. And also, which is really cool, the new version lets you import midi files and export your compositions as midi files. So that’s pretty cool.
Now, I have to tell you this. I installed this new version of Finale. Then I suddenly felt this need to go and work on some of my old compositions. Now, I’m the sort of person who composes heaps and heaps of stuff. But sooo many of my compositions are "unfinished". I get so far with them, then I get sick of thinking of things to add to it…and so they’re left, just sitting there, for months on end without finishing. But on rare occasions I get these urges to go and finish them, or at least do some more work on them. Yesterday was one of these days. O.K, so I have this Canon that I started composing months upon months upon months ago. I decided I would bite the bullet and just finish it. I hardly had anything to finish. Like 20 bars or something. That’s it. But it seriously took me like a year to get around to finishing it. So here I am putting in these last few bars of this piece. I got up to the VERY LAST BAR! And I’d put in the 1st violin note. The second violin last note. The violas last note. And then, oh my goodness - the cellos last note. Finally - finished! Then I was literally a millisecond away from hitting the save button. And. *Drum roll* THE POWER GOES OUT! This is the point in the story when I nearly put a hammer through the computer monitor and nearly threw the computer out the window. However, I refrained from doing such a ludicrous thing. But. The disappointment. It takes me so damn long to get around to finishing it. And when I finally do, I put in the very last stinking note. And the power trips. Hehe, just my luck. So I went away, did a few other things. And came back and re wrote it a few hours later. Hehe. So it is now officially finished.
Well, I think I will end this blog entry on that high note - I have finally finished a composition that was buried under the dust, so to speak…and is now finished. Yippee!!
Yew! 9 blog views today!!! According to my blog stats it’s my largest number of blog views in one single day since I’ve had my blog. Yay! The running total of blog views is now currently 55 views.
Well, since I last wrote, quite a lot has happened. I have had many concerts, many interviews, and lots of other stuff.
First off - a couple of weeks ago I had an interview with the principal, Mr. Welsh, at Oxley College. It was scary. But it went well I think. We talked for ages. And the Mr. Welsh took us on a tour of the school. And I won’t bore you with all the details but it all looks really nice, I met quite a few teachers, and it’s all rather exciting.
And then last Monday I had to go for an interview with the deputy at Oxley to talk about subjects. The deputy, Mr. Armstrong is really nice and friendly. I’m going to do English (obviously, as it’s compulsory), Mathematics, Food Tech, Biology, Beginner’s French and Music 2 + extension. And it’s really quite funny - after discussing what subjects I’ll be taking, Mr. Armstrong told me how many people would be in all my classes. Ok, get this - in music there will be…2 of us!!! And in Food Tech…7 of us! And French beginners…4 of us!!! And then obviously heaps more in maths, english and bio. But yeah, pretty small classes otherwise, which is probably a good thing.
So anyway, straight after my interview with the deputy I had to go to an essay writing class at the school which Mum had booked me into. Hehe, it was pretty funny, when I walked into the classroom I realised who the teacher was! It was a guy who’s daughter is in orchestra with me, and his daughter is also in my string quartet group! So it was pretty funny walking in and finding out that he would be the teacher. But it was pretty cool having him as a teacher because well…it made it less scary I guess. And I found out during the essay writing class that he actually marks hsc exam papers so he really knows what he’s going on about as far as essay writing goes. So yeah, it was good. Learned lots. And have to go back to another essay writing class tomorrow because it’s three sessions all up.
I’m so excited - I got a ticket to go see the ACO play next Monday!!! And. Genevieve Lacey will be performing with them as a guest artist!!! So it will be amazing to see Lacey play. So I am looking forward to it heaps. Will be awesomely awesome.
I’ve started up music theory lessons again this term which is awesome. I’m doing 6th grade now! It’s actually got a lot of awesome stuff in it. But the only sad thing is that I have to have the theory lessons on a Friday afternoon straight after my cello lesson, and I got straight from my theory lesson to orchestra. And that all means I don’t get to talk to my awesome friend Tiffany in my break that I used to have. So I miss that heaps…but oh well. At least this Friday I don’t have to go to theory because my teacher will be away. So I’ll get to talk to Tiff! Woo!
Oh, and do you know what else is really exciting? Our internet isn’t shaped anymore! For the last NINE DAYS our internet has been shaped. Can you believe it? NINE WHOLE DAYS! So that basically = torture. You click on a website. And wait. Wait. Wait. Do some more waiting. And then maybe wait some more. And then the page finally loads! So yeah, being shaped sucks. Oh, did I mention it involves waiting?
Guess what? I have Windows Vista installed on my computer, as of yesterday! It’s cool. After much begging of Dad, he finally decided to install it. We had a lot of problems though because my stupid cd drive wouldn’t read the cd to install Vista. But we worked it out somehow. But since it’s been installed I’ve had to spend a lot of time organising all my junk that I have on the computer into various folders. And I’ve had to reinstall quite a lot of stuff which is rather aggravating.
I had to go to Wollongong yesterday morning for a concert. It was at the Wollongong Conservatorium’s Saturday at the Con. Because I won a scholarship I had to perform at this concert. I guess I played ok. But not that great. It could’ve been a lot better. However I played a “work in progress” a.k.a. something for my AmusA cello exam which I intend to do in about 9 months time. I played Serenade by David Popper. So yeah, it could’ve been heaps better. But hey, it was a Saturday at the Con…fairly low stress, laid back sort of thing. Then we left straight away and I drove home from Wollongong - first time I’ve ever driven home from W’Gong.
Had Youth Group last night and boy was it good! Why? Because my one of my bestest buddies, Beth came!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Yes, I did intentionally write ‘bestest’. Just because I wanted to, even though it’s not a proper word.
) I haven’t seen her in sooooo long. I like never, ever get to see her anymore which is so sad. Really. So I enjoyed last night so much because I actually got to talk to her face to face, rather than just through emails, of which we send like 3 a week to each other hehe. We went to the Glow Worm Glen in Bundanoon. We did about a 2km return walk to the Glow Worms and back.
Ooh, we got our orchestra itinery for our tour to Spain next year! It looks soooo exciting. It’d had better all go ahead. It’ll be so exciting. I’m excited. An orchestra tour for 16 days!!! In Spain!!! It doesn’t get much better than that hehe.
And I really couldn’t be bothered writing anymore, even though I could write so much more…Need a break from all this typing. And it will give you a break from my writing too.
‘Tis late…and I’m tired…
‘Night people.
P.S. Now I have to think of a title for this blog entry. And do you know what? I absolutely hate thinking of titles for my blog entries. I can never think of anything. And I’ll probably sit here for the next 3 mins thinking of something. How sad.
